EU and National OELs

Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs) are the concentrations of air contaminants above which workers should not be exposed to without protective measures. The Chemical Agents Directive (CAD) lists OEL’s within the EU. These limits should be adopted by EU Member States within three years. Member States can only exceed these OEL’s in the legislation if they can provide specific justification. However member states can also implement OEL’s below the ones as set in the CAD.

For information on OELs please consult the safety data sheet provided by your supplier, or the GESTIS database on international limit values for chemical agents of the institute for research and testing of the German Social Accident Insurance in Germany (IFA).
